Let’s be honest here: when the weather outside is frightful (and the fire is not so delightful), we all start looking forward to those long summer days. In fact, in all likelihood, it’s probably about now that most summer getaways are booked! But this isn’t always the most logical thing to do. Why go away in summer, when the weather at home is nice and there are plenty of events happening? It’s better to go away when there’s nothing happening back home! And indeed, winter is a great time to explore the outdoors. Take a read of the below and you might just be inspired to get away very soon indeed.
A Peaceful Retreat
Sure, winter isn’t all that fun when you are driving to and from work in the dark, when it’s freezing – the list goes on. But that doesn’t mean that all of winter is bad! If you find yourself constantly praying for summer, why not consider renting a cabin somewhere picturesque for a week? You’ll quickly see that the Danish are onto something with their ‘hygge’ philosophy. Grab your loved ones, head to nature, and spend a week or two reading, playing games, and having chats besides a roaring fire. The stuff of winter dreams!
To the Slopes
You might think that summer is the time to get outdoors for a spot of recreation but you’d be forgetting that one of the most fun recreational activities exists solely in winter: skiing! Book your Andorra holiday and you’ll be able to spend your winter days carving the slopes. Don’t worry if you’ve never been skiing before; it’s easy to pick up. Besides all those great mountains you’ll be skiing down, you’ll also be able to look forward to the infamous after-ski atmosphere. When you’re freshened up and the fire is roaring with a beer in your hand, you’ll have forgotten all about summer.
Visiting Scenic Sights
Now, there is something to be said for visiting picturesque sights around the world when the weather is hot. But if you’re visiting then, you should be aware that…there’ll be thousands of other people visiting at the same time! Fewer people think to visit these places in their low season, which is of course good news for you. The big National Parks in the States are a good example. In the summer, you can barely move; in the winter, you’ll have the whole place to yourself!
It’s equally not necessary to travel far to have an adventure. There’ll be one right on your doorstep! If you’ve never camped in snow before, then know that it’s not as scary as you might think. There are plenty of ways to keep your tent nice and warm; when you wake up, you’ll hopefully step outside to snow and a blue sky. Life doesn’t get much sweeter!
All Wrapped Up
Finally, remember that you shouldn’t let the weather dictate your mood! Do whatever you want, whenever you want. There’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
